The Vision

With subscription emails flooding inboxes on the daily, getting customers to open YOUR email becomes challenging. But, not impossible!

The vision with this GAP spec email was to demonstrate a few tricks to get your customers to stop scrolling and start shopping.

The Strategy

To catch the consumer’s eye, I kept the subject line short and sweet - under 60 characters is best for a higher open rate.

“That 70’s Flare” plays on the familiarity of the sitcom That 70’s Show and is quickly followed by an enticing promise of a 20% off code.

Once the customer clicks through:

The “ALL THAT FLARE” headline is in all caps to emphasize the fabulousness of this throwback style and is designed to flare out like the product.

The cascading headline leads to the second headline, “The throwback to throw on.” to suggest that the consumer can look great any day of the week without compromising comfort.

The easy-to-remember Extra 20% off code, FANFLARE, is delivered soon after the consumer sees the product’s original price. That placement sweetens the sale, leading the consumer to the natural next step to convert to a purchase with the Shop Now button.
